Annadanam is the simplest and earliest form of charity known, where we fulfill the bodily wants. The Sanskrit word annadanam literally means the offering or sharing (danam) of food (annam). In every religious community across the Indian subcontinent, no festival or ceremony is complete without annadanam, or at least with the distribution of prasadam.
Our Ashram conducts Annadanam every Sunday and distributes food to the poor and needy. Swamiji has always stressed on this form of charity as one of the highest forms of Seva. Initially our Ashram started this practice and performed Annadanam, once in a month but now with more number of devotees coming forward to perform this Seva, we are now able to conduct this noble deed every week.
In our quest to fulfill our obligations to the society and to satisfy the needs of the mind, we have started an education scheme for the under privileged, called the Vidhyarthi Rakshane Scheme.
The Vidhyarthi Rakshane Scheme has blossomed into a successful venture of the ashram and we are proud to state that we provide basic education to the most needy and under privileged children. Children from varied backgrounds are being sponsored by our ashram after analyzing their merit, potential and their family status. Just providing basic education is not our dream, as we would like to see these children become the pillars of our society. It is with this intention that we closely monitor the child's progress and ensure that no hurdles come in the way for the child's bright future.
We offer our service to the society by holding medical camps for the under privileged. Eye Camps, Polio vaccination camps, blood donation camps are conducted to offer service to the poor which Swamiji always insist on prevention is better than cure.
Our ashram is in constant touch with leading specialist doctors of reputed hospitals who are ever willing to offer their services in providing subsidized treatment to the sick. We also seek support from volunteers who can assist in holding these camps and be part of this noble cause.
